I think I mentioned this in the old forum, but if you are able to get to Edinburgh this weekend there is a tabletop gaming convention on called Conpulsion. It's at Teviot House, the Edinburgh University student union.

I will say that there is a chance it will be a little more disorganised than usual but it should be fun all the same.

What makes you think it will be more disorganised than usual? I've only been once and was considering it again this weekend!

The person who was supposed to be in charge didn't do any organising and then decided she couldn't do the job just before Christmas. Some other members of GEAS took over and sorted everything out but I'd be surprised if they managed to get everything sorted.

With a bit of luck everyone will just do the same as they have for the last twenty years and everything will be fine. There's a decent number of games running at least.

Friends of mine who are closer to the organisers say that it looks like everything will be fine at Conpulsion this year.

We'll day 1 of the con was a little quiet but fun all the same. I played in two fun sessions: a SF game trying to escape a medical shop under attack by alien octopus scientists and a steampunk GURPS game run by Phil Masters. Bloodaxe Jnr meanwhile was playing in a couple of military SF games.

Numbers were definitely down on last year and there were no guests or talks, but I'm not sure anyone cared. There were nearly enough games running and enough traders, the bring&buy and the charity auction.

I managed to grab an FFG Star Wars book I wanted, an All Flesh Must Be Eaten supplement I didn't already own, and a complete set of the D&D Essentials books.

So I'm happy.

I'll be heading back tomorrow with the whole family to play boardgames and maybe buy some dice I don't need.

Day 2 was less of an event. There were still games running at least but I had my whole family with me so all I played was some Dobble and a couple games of Tokaido. I did pick up some Nineties gaming classics though, I found Underground and Millennium's End for a couple quid.

Missed it this year. It was a different team organising the event so I wasn't invited to attend for any panels, so I completely forgot it was on. Next year I'll see if I can change that, as I rather enjoy the event for all it's tiny.

Also, as a complete aside, Tabletop Scotland is on in September. More board gamey, as I recall (I was speaking to David about it – the chap who's organising it – and was considering attending). May be of interest to some:

Ooh, Perth is easier (well, quicker) to get to than Edinburgh, for me. I might just have to pop over for that…

Hi @TotallyThatGuy - welcome to The Society! We've only recently taken up residence at this address, but to the best of my knowledge nobody owned it previously and I've never used it for anything Spectrum-related.

On a more boring housekeeping note, videogames discussion goes in The Games Parlour - The Billiard Room is for non-digital (so, tabletop and card) games. Feel free to start a thread!

Hey @TotallyThatGuy we did have a link to a bunch of ZX Spectrum in-browser games is that what you are remembering? We lost access to the old site a few weeks back so all the old posts are gone. For now at least.
