I couldn't find a thread on it.

I started this last night on the Switch and…. well, I'm impressed. Snappy combat. Nice customisation. Looks really good (not Witcher 3 good, but not a million miles off). You can see the 360/PS3 roots, for sure, and it has quite a lot of weird quirks to it, but I think it's far better than I thought it was going to be.

One interesting feature is how you can grab on to bigger enemies and hack them to bits as you get carried about by them (sort of like Shadow of the Colossus) - which I've not seen in a game of this sort. It also has a genius combat system that uses the bumpers to give you access to a huge suite of moves at all times. Again, it seems sort of obvious but I can't think of an RPG that has done combat quite like it - perhaps showing Capcom's action game roots.

It even has weird English accents throughout - so bonus points there.

I played a bunch of it on PS3, and a bit more on PC, but never actually got around to finishing it.

Mr Party Hat

I can't work this out from the videos.

Is it an RPG with action-game combat, or an action game with light RPG elements?

More the latter.

Dragon's Dogma is, just to be entirely clear, a reliably 7/10 game – but if you click with it, it's definitely more than the sum of its janky, misshapen parts.
