Two new Persona 5 games are coming.

First Atlus announced Persona 5 Royal a expanded/remade version of Persona 5 with some new areas to visit, a new character, they've apparently done some stuff with Mementos too (hopefully changed its music!), and a whole new semester. They've said it's releasing in Japan in October and confirmed a Western release for 2020

Best of all though is their announcement of "Persona 5S" which the internet has spent weeks/months claiming is a switch port of Persona 5, it's all but confirmed blah blah blah. NOPE, Persona 5S is Persona 5 Scramble, a Musuo game set in the Persona 5 universe and made by Omega Force much like Dragon Quest Warriors and Hyrule Warriors, it IS being made for Switch (and PS5) though but the fallout of Switch fans on Twitter getting their knickers in a twist has been amusing. (Fwiw if it had have been a port of Persona 5 that would have been fine, more people get to play Persona).

I do still need to get/play the two recent rhythm action games but hoping they'll eventually get a good discount on PSN or something.

I'm a little disappointed it's not on Switch, despite the fact that I like musou games I still think a Switch port of actual game would be better. Speaking of musou, I like them but they vary a lot depending on the game, if this is like Hyrule Warriors, then sure, sign me up. If this is more like Ken's Rage or something (I still loved that, but it was pretty trash) then no thanks.

Persona S looks great! New girl is the best character design I think I've seen from them since Yukiko or Mitsuru in the Persona 4 Arena game. New stuff sounds neat but so far not a whole lot to go on. Despite this, I still want to resume my relay of Persona 5 I stopped a while back precisely because of these rumours, P5S is still a long ways away.

I just beat the…3rd dungeon on the Vita version, I've said it before but a game on the level of Persona 4 on Vita is crazy good. It's a shame we'll never get Persona 5 portable (Switch method or otherwise).

If the Musou game doesn't have Metis from the 'Answer' chapter of Persona 3 FES edition and Labrys from the Persona 4 Arena fighting game, I'll be very upset. Especially Labrys, I didn't play P4A much but I've fought her a lot in Cross Tag, she's an android like Aigis but she has this fucking ridiculous jet powered greataxe and honestly I just want my Aigis/Labrys/Metis (the one from Persona 3 FES) team. Activate Orgia mode on all 3 and burn through literally 100s of Shadows in seconds, pls gamedevs.

Actually looking quite forward to this the more I think about it, if they have teams like most musou games do, and if they let you do more damage by casting each party member's respective spell elements, maybe the All Out Attack mechanic will return or something? Every Musou game has their gimmick after all.

Are weeven going to get another Musou spin off on the level of polish, quality and content as Hyrule Warriors ever again tbh.

I'm amazed they've not done a Switch version of Persona 5 - it's a series that's permanently associated in many people's minds with portable consoles and to be honest I wouldn't want to play 100 hours of text boxes any other way. Like Danganronpa, Phoenix Wright etc etc this sort of thing just works better on portable.

The various spin-offs are getting a bit silly now too, how many dancing games do they need exactly?

Totally agree on that last point, ive been put off buying the recent dancing games by them releasing two separate games on the same day as each other with very little difference between them.

I played the demo of the Persona 3/5 dancing games on PS4 and maybe it's me being bad but I didn't like them. The songs themselves seemed okay but pressing buttons to the beat wasn't that fun, maybe I'll try again one day. And yeah, they can fuck off releasing two games separately like that, dicks.
