Possibly of interest given the buzz around NEXT, No Man's Sky is £15 in that sale. Following on from XCOM 2 in PS+ the other month, you can also get the War of the Chosen expansion for £19.

Otherwise, it looks like a lot of stuff that's still just a couple of quid higher than necessary for an impulse purchase. With the new Destiny expansion coming down the line and Octopath Traveller severely tempting me (plus Two Point Hospital), it doesn't take much for me to put off buying things that have already been on my wishlist for months.

GTA V is in this for £15.99 which made me go "Ooh".

I've played it, rung it out, and I think I still have a PS3 copy but this is the shiny version. That said Uncharted Lost Legacy and Lost Horizon are the same price and then there are things like Gravity Rush 2 and Nioh for £11.99.

I'll probably cave on the final day of the sale and get something, haven't seen GTA at a sub £20 price point before though.

Care with Gravity Rush 2, they shut down the servers for it literally last week which makes some of the unlockables in there unavailable. I don't think it fundamentally breaks the game but it's a bit cheeky of them to put in on sale when they've just invalidated some of its functionality.

Not seeing anything in there at first glance that tempts me but I'm still deep into Yakuza Zero and then I want to tackle No Man's Sky so I'm not really in the market for much at the moment. When this bastard heatwave ends I've got a PSVR backlog to tackle too.

I wanna' buy Gravity Rush 2 but I don't want to spend money on anything really since I want to save up for my holiday but it wont be that price for ages and I've waited on this for ages. >_<

I'm trying not to spend anything on anything; Gloomhaven basically wiped out disposable income for the rest of the year.

I think I grabbed Hotline Miami 2, Ronin and Headlander, purely because I was semi-interested in all of them anyway, and as they were £3-4 each I figured I might as well. There’s a bunch of better stuff in there, but almost all of it I’ve bought in previous sales…

I am looking forward to Dead Cells. Currently top of my most-wanted list. I’ll definitely pick up Guacamelee 2 at some point too, as I loved the first one.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go for that. Not that I don't have enough Metroidvania games to play right now, but hey. :)

Dead Cells, Chasm (finished that recently), La-Mulana 2, Guacamelee 2 and Death's Gambit (which I think I've had enough of already). I also went back to Symphony of the Night, plus had a quick play of Hollow Knight on PC (it's a work machine though, and I never actually play PC games). That's a few, right? There's probably more I've forgotten as well, because I'm sure that's not the whole list…

Hollow Knight is currently 7£ on the eShop. Got that as heard lots of good things about it.

Turns out I had unclaimed Gold points, which took it down to £4.72. I'll take that. :)

Not technically a bargain, I guess, but I got that 500m PS4 today. It's very lovely. That means my current Pro is going if anyone genuinely wants it. Summary:

• No box, but in excellent condition
• All cables
• DS4 Controller (the Pro one with the added light on the touch panel), excellent condition
• Can also throw in the camera if you want, since I now have two

Anyone interested, just shout. Open to reasonable offers, I'm not expecting stupid amounts (they're £350 new, so use that as a base).

No-one then? Would genuinely prefer to sell it to someone I know, since I don't trust randoms. :D

I would, but I really can't justify it - in addition to the cost, it would have to replace one of the boxes already under the TV, but I need to keep the PS4 around because it's my US blu-ray player and having two PS4s seems like overkill.

Most aren't, but some smaller titles are - anime in particular seems to get region locked a lot, presumably a result of the Japanese licensors trying to prevent their local audience importing cheaper discs.

It's honestly more frustrating than when everything was locked; at least then you knew what was going to work in which machine - I'm not even sure that the region indicated on the box is necessarily accurate, 'cos I've definitely got some Region B discs that work in my American PS4.

The further I get from Rise (which I only finished maybe a month or so ago) the more I find I'm indifferent to Shadow, partially because I genuinely dislike new Lara, so if I'm anything to go on I wouldn't be all that surprised if it under-performed a bit, no.

Also, surely people are increasingly aware that, unless they need to play a AAA game immediately, it'll be about £15 in a PSN sale in a year anyway. When they're frequently £50-60 at release (at least digitally), that's got to start making a discernible difference to sales sooner rather than later, if it hasn't already - hasn't the new AC done markedly less well than the last as well, at least in terms of physical copies?

Shadow of the Tomb Raider got reasonably unenthusiastic reviews, it's pretty similar to the last two and it's come out right in the middle of a glut of better games; I wouldn't be surprised if it's sold pretty badly. We're only a few weeks out from Spider-Man, Forza Horizon 4 came out at pretty much the same time and Red Dead Redemption 2 is just around the corner. With competition like that, Tomb Raider's not a massive draw for most people. It's one of those series where name recognition vastly outstrips the number of people who actually want to play it, at least at full price.

AC Odyssey's sales are probably a combination of franchise fatigue (the last game was enormous and only a year ago) and a lot of (IMHO unjustified) furore over microtransactions and the game's pacing. A shame because in this case it's probably the best game in the series. But like you also say the sales are only based around physical copies and I'm sure that over time the proportion of digital sales for pretty much everything must be increasing, if only slowly. I hope this one's a slow burn because it's genuinely excellent.

But yes, you're right, constant sales are making full-price day one purchases an increasing indulgence. I still haven't got God of War but it's probably only one sale away from hitting the £25 price point that will tip me into a purchase.

It's also a square-Enix release , which, as far as I'm aware, normally get discounted regularly

Smyth's toy shop is selling all Lego Dimensions stuff half price. I doubt any of us are playing it any more, but maybe we have kids who are.

I love Total War games but I've got about three of them in my library I haven't put any time into. If no-one else wants it then I'll gratefully take it but I'll probably play it in about two years' time.

(How they keep churning these out, each with loads of DLC campaigns, and who the hell has the time to play them, is a complete mystery. They're absolutely massive games! I assume they continue to sell, though).

Yeah similar to Gar. Consider myself a fan but not played one properly since Empire and I don't want to look up how long ago that was. Would hate to see how my laptop handles a game like that too, struggled with xcom 2.

I've set Empire reinstalling despite having zero time to play it! I remember not liking the introduction of guns much mind. Loved the Rome series.

I think Rome 2 was the last one I put any real time into. They totally over-reached themselves with that one and it was a complete mess at launch - they patched it and patched it and patched it and eventually re-released the whole thing as the Emperor Edition with a ton of fixes and then carried on patching that. There's also an absolute ton of DLC for it and they're still releasing stuff for it five years after launch. (They did a recent update that introduced female generals that got all the usual shitlords review-bombing it on Steam, I recall).

At some point they must have broken the balancing because according to Steam I put 21 hours into it and never got past the tutorial campaign. I think whatever fixes they applied weren't retrospectively applied to the tutorial and it became impossibly difficult. I should probably give it another go though as I'm sure it's been fixed by now.

Still, the problems they had with Rome 2 haven't stopped them. Since then, they've done Atilla, two Warhammer games (that link together to make the largest campaign in the series) and Thrones of Britannia, and they've got a Three Kingdoms game just around the corner. Every one of these games is colossal, I think Total War has to be the most unlikely annual franchise in the whole of gaming. There must be a huge number of people who play nothing else.

Still, I think Thrones of Britannia is supposed to be a bit more streamlined, with bite-sized campaigns rather than the sprawling epics the series has been known for. I've got fond memories of Medieval's Britain expansion so I think I might jump back into the series with this one and see how I get on. Cheers Mart.

BMB - you might want to check out Shogun 2, it's post-Empire and pre-Rome 2 and widely recognised as one of the very best in the series.

Cheers I will have a scan at that. I've been moderately interested in those Warhammer games as a fan of the universe and always wanted to play the tabletop game as a kid, I might grab the next one I see on a sale and just investigate how it runs.

Samurai are lame and Knights are way cool, I used to have fond memories of the first STW though, last time I replayed it it looked like absolute shit on the battlefield though and I think I ended up spamming the Geisha. Those little in window FMVs were the shit.

All Hail Mart. The man who saved me £25.

StarLink now £39.99. Tempted to wait it out till Jan as can see it dropping again. All the ships and pilots still full price. Smyths have tons of it so can see them gouging the prices to clear space.

Dear reader, I bought this.

Given the amount of stuff I've got from BAFTA this year (we did a count in the office today, it's around a grand's worth of games), combined with the fact that I had £68 languishing in my PSN account from stuff I traded in (not things I paid for, before you claim Martonomics, cav), I just gave in. Going to visit my mate that shares my PSN account for the weekend, so it's automatically downloading to her PS4 as we speak and we can play it later.
