Regarding discs, we're old, guys. Our time has passed.

Two very different statements there. We're old, yes. But, as a very wise man once said*, old does not mean dead and new does not mean best.

It's my birthday this week, and I'm not coping well with that.

Chin up, sir. No idea how old you actually are (since you're not coping, I'll guess… 40?), but it's not age that gets you. Circumstances, life, these are the things that make us staid, stuck. They can be changed, and they can get better. I'm 45 and honestly, right now, I'm living my best life. I worked my arse off to get here, but I'm here. Took some luck, sure, and some shit stuff (divorce is a horrible thing), but I got here. Age is just a number, it's the other stuff that really matters.

I turned 52 yesterday. All of the stuff that's appreciably different in my life from 10 or more years ago is more to do with me being a parent than being in my early forties.

(I realise that this can be interpreted in more than one way. I am completely OK with this.)

Getting old doesn't bother me in itself, I don't feel hugely different from ten or fifteen years ago, a bit more tired perhaps.

It's my son's 14th birthday today though and I'm trying not to think about the fact that he's growing up fast and we've only really got about another four years with him at home with us. That stuff is really hard.

Don't worry about that, Gar. The way the housing market is currently, you've got at least another 16 years of him living at home.

My son is 15 now, and my daughter just turned 12. I speak to them on video call, but I haven't physically seen them in over three years (pandemic, mainly). They're totally different people to when I last spent time with them. That's hugely depressing.

I moved back in with my parents THREE TIMES - twice when I had a home in Bournemouth but a job in London, and once after the divorce. Now THAT'S depressing.

Ghostwire Tokyo

It's completely the type of game I've grown bored of with the "Ubisoft open world" formula when the map is filled with collectables, side missions and other stuff. Yet, I'm loving it. If you called me a hypocrite, you'll be spot on. 😂 I think it's down to Tokyo, and the horror vibe. I wouldn't say it's scary or anything, but more of a FPS action horror. It's on game pass and I think PS extra? From the 6 or so hours I've played I think it's worth checking out at least.

Street Fighter 6 Demo

Demo for the campaign is finally out on Xbox and PC now. Don't want to put too much into this and start again or continue when the game is out in a few weeks. Really looking forward to this anyway so I'm already sold. It seems like a fun mode outside the competitive scene. The best way I could describe it is it's kinda similar to campaigns in the WWE games. When you create a character, take moves from the roster and likely become overpowered by the end. Seems they've learned from the release of SFV when it was light on single player content. I can't stress how important this is for fighting games. MK games have proven this time and time again.
