I went to a fun talk Mike Mason was giving yesterday at the National Library of Scotland. Mike is the Creative Director of Call of Cthulhu and generally pleasant, and funny. His talk was called Game Design in Roleplaying Games but was actually about writing scenarios, which IMO is a more important discussion anyway.
It was a good talk, nothing revolutionary but all good advice which acknowledged that all groups are going to do their own thing anyway so instead of writing a strict scenario, you should be writing a toolbox which helps GMs keep up with their players.
Best fact gleaned from the evening was that the National Library has an RPG section.
