Mr Party Hat
All the other consoles have got their own thread, the LX-1 deserves one!
I'm working through the games in chronological order. Some people seem to be picking games randomly, others googling the best ones. I'll just work through in the order they 'came out', aiming for at least a cherry in each. (A cherry is 'sort of completed, you modern wuss'. A gold medal is 'actually completed, like in the 80s'.)
I won't detail every game I play, as finding out is half the fun. But a few highlights so far:
Barbuta is completely impenetrable, and a bold 'first' game to launch the collection with. It makes sense as a 'first' game chronologically, so fair play to the real devs for sticking with the illusion. I reckon I need to crack out a pen and paper for this, to properly map the game out Metroid 1 style. But jesus, do I have time to do that these days? I'll go back eventually. Probably.
Bug Hunter is genuinely brilliant. If Into the Breach and Carcasonne had a baby on the NES. I can already see some wonderful builds, although I haven't been lucky enough (or good enough) to win more than one round in a row yet. Definitely favourited.
Magic Garden is like crack. The very definition of one more go. And Mortol has one of the most unique gameplay mechanics I've seen in a long while. I actually laughed out loud when I first saw it in action. I think it's completely original; I can't remember any game it might be ripping off. But what a brilliant idea.
Everyone BUY UFO 50. It's £20 on Switch, and it's as good as everyone says.
