Gaming has always been on a console for me. Except for one year when I had a win 3.1 machine that I was using for AutoCAD and sneakily played X-Wing.
Either side of that I’ve always been a Mac fan, and since the 90’s always had one of the pro towers and all sorts of graphics cards.
Then on 2015 I switched to the Mac Mini, an iPad and a MacBook Air - a world of integrated gfx - and said goodbye to pc gaming completely.
During lockdown everyone of my friends is on Tabletop Simulator - and the one time I tried to run it, my machines overheated.
So, and the point of the thread - I’ve been looking at external GPU’s. I’ll still need to upgrade to the 2019 Mac Mini for official support, but there are hacks for older machines.
And then, I found Nvidia are doing a virtual GPU I signed up for their free trial, and spent the weekend playing Wingspan with my friends. It worked like a dream, except that the free level makes you log out every hour - but it was manageable.
I’m waiting for the premium level to be opened up - which gives six hour sessions for £5 a month.
And now I’m all sorts of confused. This vGPU is all that I really need - but I do want their premium membership level.
