Phantasy Star Online 2

So PSO2 is finally coming out in the West, some 7-8 years since it's Japanese release. However, it's US only with there being no noise of it coming to Europe (are we allowed to class our releases as Europe from tomorrow still?).

Anyway, there's a Closed Beta starting next week, you can still sign up through XBox Insider and then the client is downloadable from Monday, then the game playable from Friday 7th to the following Friday. But you have to change your location on the XBox to US.

Anybody else looking at trying to get on?

Might give this a shot, I loved PSO back in the day.

I've had very little time to actually play this this weekend, had a quick blast yesterday, just enough to confirm that I'll definetly be joining in any open beta and the full release.

Open Beta starts tonight/tomorrow, not sure when it finishes, but I think it's only available on Xbox one for now, no news on a beta for it on PC

I think this is out of beta now, I'm really enjoying it though the gameplay feels more like PSU than PSO. Here's a couple of videos of me from tonight, doing the "Urgent" quests that occur at set intervals

This is out on PC now, but it can be hit or miss if it actually works, I've not had any problems personally but there have been many who have.

Also, Hatsune Miku had a "concert" on it last night, well, one song, I tried to stream it but for whatever reason Twitch Studio's didn't capture any audio the entire time I was playing. I'll stick to Streamlabs OBS as that's captured audio today.

So, in this, there's a bunch of scratch cards, nearly all of which require you to buy the games credit to play, SEGA have just launched a SEGA Legacy scratch card that has this as one of its prizes

Pity you can't cross dress, I'm using a Female Newman so can't dress as Majima (though there is Ulala).

Thankfully, you don't have to buy the scratch cards to get these things as people often upload them to their Personal Shop (which you have to pay to have) for ridiculous amounts of Meseta.

Oh, that reminds me, there's five types of credit in this

Meseta - your general in game credit, earned through doing quests, selling the shit you pick up, blahblahblah
FUN - I think this is earned through completing certain quests, but you also get random 1000 FUN tickets and are gifted 100 FUN each time you login, there's a store with cosmetics in you can use it on, I mostly use it on the FUN scratch
Star Gems - earned through specific things, given as rewards for doing certain things (like login bonuses), can be bought for stupid amount of Arkz Cash (I'll come to that one in a moment) and earned through the games battle pass, which you need Star Gems to buy into
Casino Coins - You get a ticket each day that you login, this is used in a machine to win anything between 100 and 500 Casino Coins, these are spent in the Casino on a variety of mini-games with various different Casino Coin payouts that can eventually be redeemed for items, mostly cosmetics
Arkz Cash - You have to buy this using real money, but because PSO isn't officially available outside of the US you have to jump through hoops if you want to buy some, can be used to buy cosmetics, Star Gems and a variety of themed scratch cards to get you more consumables or cosmetics.

Thats not even scratching the surface of how much of a mess the various systems are in this, fortunately its quite fun to play. Especially when you get an Urgent Quest that lets you shoot this dude in the perineum
