I haven't watched this series in years but are you seriously telling me Tennant's Doctor got even more special treatment? Also just read up on this timeless Child thing, wtf?

Glad I checked out before then but still, I used to love this show. :/

Finally caught up. Ncuti's first episode was… not great. Conceptually, not the worst idea, but the execution was pretty shocking.

I liked it - for what it was, which was a Doctor Who Christmas episode. They're always pretty broad. It also had to introduce a new Doctor, and a new companion, set up a bunch of stuff for the upcoming series AND act as a bit of a soft reboot for the show, so I don't have a huge problem with the way it turned out. It was oddly fantasy-based rather than sci-fi but I bet there's an explanation for that further down the line. It's no more bizarre overall than the Toymaker who finished off Tennant.

It's Russell T Davies all over, isnt it? With him you get energy, and humour, and broad appeal, and good characters, and the show is badly in need of those after three years of incoherent nonsense from Chris Chibnall. You also get a certain kind of simplicity, and a tendency to prioritise characters over plot, but I'll happily take that for now.

@Alastor - it's literally being run again by the guy that did all the Eccleston and Tennant episodes first time around, if you liked it back then you will almost certainly like it now.
