It's the 2DS any more comfy to use? I know it's basically flat but you hold it in the middle rather than the bottom and I think the shoulder buttons are bigger, so it could be a lot better for you.

Yeah, small screens though. I’ve looked at the 2DS XL and it’s basically a lighter 3DS XL which would be an improvement but then I’d miss the 3D. I think I’ll just have to stick with what I have.

With the Switch or the Vita it's often too obvious that games are designed around the big screen and they don't always do enough to make them just right for the portable screen.

Vita, yeah, but I've found the Switch is quite generous, to the point that things look almost too chunky on the TV (only because I'm used to PS4 games being fucking unreadable at a distance). Admittedly, my Switch library is still pretty small and is mostly first-party or exclusive games, so maybe multi format titles are less forgiving.

I've specifically worked on three projects lately where the directive as far as on-screen text for console in general, but particularly for Switch, is 'Make the text/UI bigger'. We're erring towards giving users options, so they can decide how big/small they want it. You make the choice for them, someone's bound to be unhappy. You give them the choice, they can't complain.*

*They still complain, but that's people in general. :)

Yep. I think there was a real shift at the start of the PS4 generation where people simply starting converting 1080p PC titles “as is” without considering the impact of viewing on a TV on the other side of the room versus testing on a monitor on a desk. On my old TV (a not insubstantial 46”) I bought several games that were uncomfortable or downright impossible to play. My current TV is bigger and that makes a big difference but it’s not right and given the choice I’d always go for nice, big, easy-to-read fonts and icons.

Aniki wasn't kidding about the tutorials for the Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo. @_@

I gritted my teeth and soldiere on but they absolutely fragment the experience, I hope it didn't throw anyone off because this game looks pretty fucking good, as good as VC1 gameplaywise at least, so far I have seen very little gameplay additions but I'm down for a new set of maps at the very least and maybe bigger and more action?

Also, I'm sorry but Claude crying over some fucking flowers is the biggest eyeroll ever, instantly hate him so far. Everyone else looks okay though, very anime but there you go.
