Thoughts? I think Halo 2 and the multiplayer component would probably be more interesting, and we've had the MCC. But first time a Halo is on a Sony console. Sign of MS's long term strategy to abandon hardware and just focus on software delivery and Gamepass, perhaps.
Super excited, a bit worried about the official twitter saying 'enhanced gameplay' I really just want the port of MCC like they did with Gears, but I'm not going to fuss too much it might just be something minorthey're hyping up. Other than that I see no reason to not be mega excited here.
I'm slightly surprised it's just the original, and not at least the first three; OG Halo has an okay campaign with a handful of standouts (there's a reason they announced this with Silent Cartographer), and multiplayer didn't really hit its stride until 2. Then again, the fact this is "Campaign Evolved" suggests maybe multiplayer isn't even a thing; maybe it'll hook into Infinite's multiplayer instead?
I'm not sure this actually matters any more, does it? The last Halo game to make an impact (Reach) was 15 years ago. That official Halo channel has 800k subscribers, which is peanuts these days.
An entire generation (of people; two generations of consoles!) has come and gone without Halo being relevant. I'd be intrigued to see the sales figures.
Also no online multiplayer is kind of a shame, when I tried the MCC on Series S last year or so I tried all the onlines as well and Halo 1's is the only one that didn't really hold up for me but as soon as Halo 2 you had something I'd happily play today and have a great time. If they're tampering with stuff I'd have started there.
