PWB September - Come Celebrate 2020's 157th Month Inside!

Had a bash on Genshin Impact last night, wasn't impressed. It runs badly on a base PS4, and very much feels like a free-to-play, Chinese mobile game.

I dunno how you'd even play this on a phone.

I tried. It works surprisingly well. But I stopped after 15 minutes because who can be fucked with that.

(In hindsight, I should've tried it with my Kishi controller, in case that worked)

Additional WANT - I think I want Star Wars Squadrons, and I think I want it on PS4 for the VR stuff. Will probably wait for the reviews though, to be safe.

I really want Squadrons. It's a much less frantic experience than the starfighter modes in Battlefront, where I very often feel like I just explode with very little warning or opportunity to counter.

Al: it has a photo mode, you know - not a great one, but at least you can switch off the UI.

Somehow managed to a wall of text on why I think this game is so good and that dismissing it as just a free to play gacha game is really unfair. Not the first time I did this but I think I wrote it all and then didn't post it, then closed the tab…so I'm not doing it again…I was mega shilling the game anyway tbh. I'll just say, it's a free game that looks that good and has this much depth…what's not to like honestly?

I will point out that combat is great, relies on elemental combos and real time party switching. Some elementals combo off each other so you can wet everything with a water character then electrocute it with a lightning character and that specific combo does aoe damage. I heard someone say they summoned a wind tornado with the main characters wind special and when they fired Amber's fire arrows into it and it caught fire, cool right?

And as an open world game, in between quests and waypoint activation I've had a lot of fun exploring this world. Everything I've found has been either an unmarked quest, combat trial or valuable resource and it's all been off the back of my own exploration. (of what is actually a really bright and beautiful world). Got to say too, if all open world games are going to be a copy of the same game at least we're finally copying the good open world game :p. Fucking finally at least someone copies the climbing 99% of every surface and gliding everywhere I actually enjoy travel weeeeee.

4/5s and 7/8 out of 10s coming in… yeah, Squadrons.
