Was looking through the DLC for this on the in game page, it reminded me of my desire for a remake of the Anthema level from (the other) Hitman 2. :(

I aim to please.
Re-downloaded the game to find my last save is almost exactly two years ago to the day (two off iirc), not bad. Last thing I did was Marrakesh and despite being able to move on I just did Marrakesh again to re-aquaint myself and got a much smoother Silent Assassin then last time, thanks to discovering the Tunnel connecting the two targets this time and not bothering with the rest of the map at ALL, and managing to literally knock out the guard who oversees the General talking to his prisoner and dump his body in the locker few steps away without getting caught before burying my Screwdriver into his neck, I wanted to free the prisoner dude but I guess 47 doesn't give a shit.
Saw a few alternate kill methods (and the one with the Prisoner I did two years ago) but I think I'm going to move on, then I can at least say I 'beat' the game.

YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG

Silent Assassin Suit Only done on Santa Fortuna, which also put me over the top on Mastery 20. It didn't feel as fraught and tense a run as I was expecting; each takedown was pretty straightforward. They all stick to their own parts of the map, more or less; it's not like some maps where you've got to consider multiple targets in a small area.
That SASO run is, in fact, my first Silent Assassin run at all on Santa Fortuna, so my leaderboard time is a slightly embarrassing 33 minutes. I'm hoping to get at least Sniper Assassin before moving onto Mumbai, and I'll probably take another couple of runs to see if I can't drop that time to something more respectable.
I can't believe there are still another four levels in this thing.
Plus two more on the way as DLC.
Has anyone checked out the new Shaman challenges yet?
I, too, spent the evening in Santa Fortuna - I managed a few of the shaman challenges, but there are a couple left that require more time and patience than I was able to manage last none.
Oh God I didn't even realise the Shaman stuff was out already.
There’s new stuff literally every week. Next week is the Broken Hearts featured contracts.
Then the Hawke's Bay elusive target after that. Wonder will it unlock the wetsuit?
Bangkok was a nightmare tbh, took me ages looking for the fucking cake before guessing that I simply missed it and the game was trolling me, so I went back to doing things my way and lured Cross into his room by 'trespassing' in plain sight as he tried to phone then slashed his throat with a Katana. I honestly think if you see a bald headed security guard standing in your room with a Katana you might not want to walk into him, but okay, I thought that was pretty daft actually and kinda' disappointed it worked.
The Lawyer I took to the penthouse suite as a cleaner and stabbed him in the chest with a Kitchen Knife. But then I had to lookeverywhere for the Security room, ended up using a guide and still didn't get the SA ranking.
Gonna' go back to it later but so far, worst level? I'm hoping there's some option for poetic justice in pushing Cross of the building somehow? Lot more hype than poisoning his Vegan Cake or whatever it seems you can do. I laughed my ass off when I saw that one of the guards blocking the stairs into Cross' hippie suite was bald and sorta' built, not that bald people are mythical unicorns or anything it's howfor once 47 gets to disguise himself in a way that actually seems believable for once.
I do think Bangkok is one of the weaker levels, but there's a lot to find, and some of the opportunities are great. As aniki said up-thread, it's probably the least "organic" location, and feels very game-y.
The cake is Spoiler - click to showon the second floor, directly above the security room. The easiest way in us through the window from the roof.
I ran all around the Kitchen looking for it. -_-
Colorado has 4 targets, juicy af.
Then the Hawke's Bay elusive target after that. Wonder will it unlock the wetsuit?
I hope so. Hokkaido Elusive unlocked the dressing gown which is my new favourite suit for comedy murder opportunities.
I just killed Esra Burg in the most incidental meeting ever, whilst I was planning to figure out how to get to him alone, I started picking the lock to the basement door, he not only opened it anyway but just walked right past me like it was no big deal. I know these kills are 'boring' but it's still my way.

I think turning up at Paris or the Isle of Sgàil in the Terminus Suit is pretty funny, and the Santa and Corky outfits are both pretty good, too. Santa, in particular, is a good look for levels like Columbia or Mumbai; the hotter the better.
I'd like to be able to unlock the training facility suit, and I hope we get a Marrakesh elusive target reactivation so I can get the Best Suit again.
An… unsubtle ending to the endeavor, but that's the Shaman Shenanigans done. Let's see what this powder can do!
Holiday Hoarders was too hard for me so I’m still missing the Santa suit 😩
I did kind of cheat on it, and looked up a guide for the items the thieves were after. It was just too frustrating to try and go through again after my abject failure at the thing first time round.
Update: shaman powder is quite loud.
Colorado was pretty good, lacking that 'public citizen' dynamic though, that feeling that you're having to do your job in plain sight somehow, like a Snake in the grass. For all intents and purposes it feels like I just did some secret agent shit, as opposed to a hit on someone.
That last part was a little odd, unless I missed something why did the hacker have the data to make the thing? Also, can I skip that part and take errr, the real thing with me?
What thing?
Spoiler - click to showThe 3D printing of his face? Why does the Hacking group have that? It seemed very convenient for us to get past that security. I don't really care that much but it felt weird.
I'm aware we have spoilers I'm just lazy btw. >_>
Oh, okay, that thing. I don't know if that's ever specifically explained, off the top of my head, but
Spoiler - click to showthe hackers generally talk about how they like finding ways to mess with Rose, so it may just be part of that. In any case, you can take the original to the scanner - assuming you can get him down there. That's what the "Body Double" challenge is for.
I see, well I was assuming you could sorta' cut…the excess but I guess that's okay too.
It's Hitman, not Soldier of Fortune.
It's a practical solution! But fair point, a bit grisly for Hitman..
Mark Brown's Game Maker's Toolkit YouTube channel has a new video out about how IOI build levels, focusing specifically on Miami from Hitman 2.
Fascinating video, thanks for sharing. And now I really want a Hitman level set in IKEA.
Bitzed the Shaman Shenanigans challenges over lunchtime - most of them straightforward, but taking out ten coca field guards got a bit tense in places.
I managed to take out two of the targets easily enough on my way out, but time was getting short when I reached Martinez so I ended up just gunning her down in the street, in plain view of about twenty guys, then sprinted to the bus stop exit - which made for a rather strange departure.
Sarah's first ever attempt on The Final Test saw her flee for the exit pursued by just about every guard on the level; as Diana congratulated 47 on a job well done, he was slowly approached by two dozen shouting fake Russians with assault rifles at the ready.
February update out tomorrow. Lots of changes:
Fun times doing the Shaman challenges last night. These little challenge packs are perfect, an hour’s fun on a map you know well and an unlock at the end. Plenty of other games would charge for these as paid DLC.
Give me a goddamn decent scoped sniper rifle.
Mastered Paris, up there on the next 2, and just about had enough of club 27 to move to the next level.
Some of the challenges aren't possible during normal play right? You need to set up specific contracts?
That’s right (although not common) - however a quick search will usually throw up a number of contracts created by others to facilitate those specific challenges.
Give me a goddamn decent scoped sniper rifle.
There's a 3-level escalation set on the night-time Marrakesh level that gives you the best sniper rifle in the game.
Update came out today. Since then the servers have been mostly down.
More new stuff
Mumbai Escalation
Whittleton Creek gets a new Batty package challenge
The Author and Patient Zero both got the five-challenge set of special kills (drown, headshot, fiber, etc)
I spent 8 quid buying the GOTY upgrade for hitman 1, so i now have patient zero and a few other bits and bobs.
All the chat in here seems to be about the legacy levels, so what is hitman 2 actually like? I've played the disappointing hawkes bay. Are the other levels worth the entry price?
Hawke's Bay is a glorified tutorial level; including it in the "6 sandbox locations" is a bit of a joke, frankly. The other levels are all much bigger and more intricate, and definitely worth the price of admission.
Most of the chat so far has been about legacy levels because folks've been working (back) through those to get to the Hitman 2 stuff; also, those of us who played Hitman back in 2016 know those levels much better, so I guess there's more we're able to say.
Yes, all the levels in Hitman 2 are better than Hawke’s Bay, and well worth it. They’re generally bigger and more ambitious than the first game. There’s also a surprisingly fun little sniper challenge tacked on the end too. And you get to play the Elusive Targets as they come out. Tl;dr: DOOOO ITTTT
Oh, the Black Hat is a great ET. They're sticking with the "guess who it is" theme for now, it seems.
It’s all about the feather duster.
